DISEASE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT

-
We educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases like Polio, HIV/AIDS, and Malaria. We improve and expand access to low-cost and free health care in developing areas.
-
Many clubs, such as those in our District, are also focusing on funding research efforts into treating Alzheimer's. We provide funding for this research through an independent Rotary-directed nonprofit called Coins for Alzheimer's Research Trust (CART). We collect money at most of our meetings for purposes of supporting this important research into Alzheimer's.
-
In other areas, we provide direct support to communities and individuals in need of assistance. Our friend, Juan received new legs after an automobile accident took his legs six years ago. The cost of the legs was funded by Dilworth Charities, Inc., with donations made from Charlotte Dilworth South End Rotary Club.
-
Locally, our club volunteers every other week at NC Medassist sorting donated over-the-counter medications for distribution to North Carolina's uninsured at their store in Charlotte and through mobile events held throughout the state.
